Functional capacity back with physiotherapy

After surgery, moving around can feel uncertain, painful – and even scary. That’s where post-operative rehabilitation offers a safe way back to activity. With the support of an experienced professional, mobility is practised gradually and with respect for tissue healing. Post-operative rehabilitation programmes are individually designed for your situation and your recovery. At Comeback Physio, our goal is for you to return to your normal daily life through rehabilitation.
  • Why is post-operative rehabilitation important?

Rehabilitation helps restore mobility, strength and function to normal levels. It can easily help prevent the loss of muscle tone or stiffness in joints.

  • How soon after the surgery will rehabilitation start?

Physiotherapy can usually be started soon after surgery, as advised by your doctor. Starting physiotherapy early will speed up recovery and may also reduce the risk of complications.

  • What is physiotherapy after surgery?

The length of the course of treatment depends on the extent of the surgery and the severity of the injury. For smaller operations, for example, 1-3 visits may be enough, while a more extensive treatment series can last up to 6-9 months and include around 10 visits.

  • What other services do you offer to support rehabilitation?

We can provide you with orthoses, or joint supports, to support your rehabilitation when you return to everyday activities or sports. A joint support helps to support the joint under stress that it would not otherwise be able to withstand due to its current condition.

Physiotherapy before and after surgery

Speed up your recovery

Physiotherapy assists in the recovery of function and the body's recovery after major joint and back surgery.

Reduce pain and swelling

Manual therapy, exercise and, if necessary, lymphatic therapy can help relieve pain and reduce post-operative swelling.

Restore muscle strength and mobility

After surgery, muscle strength and joint mobility may be reduced. Physiotherapy helps to rebuild them in a safe and controlled way.

Safe and healthy

Your physiotherapist can design home exercises for you to do on your own to help you recover.

This is how physiotherapy progresses during your appointment

1

Initial mapping and discussion

The intake starts with a comprehensive initial assessment, where we go through the client’s symptoms, health history and possible functional capacity challenges. We will also discuss work, leisure and everyday stress factors to get a full picture of your situation. The aim is to understand the background to your symptoms and find the right approach to treatment for you.

2

Examining the symptoms

After the discussion, we will examine the symptoms in more detail using physiotherapeutic methods. For example, we assess muscle strength, mobility, body control and possible areas of pain. If necessary, we will carry out more detailed functional tests. The examination provides the basis for building an individual treatment and exercise programme.

3

Treatment and rehabilitation plan

Based on the tests, we will draw up a personalised treatment and rehabilitation plan for you. The plan may include therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, ergonomic guidance and concrete ways to alleviate symptoms and improve your ability to function. All interventions are based on your goals and your life situation.

4

Follow-up and further guidance

Physiotherapy does not end at the first visit. We will monitor your progress and adapt your treatment as necessary. You will also receive clear follow-up instructions for self-training and support for everyday activities. The aim is to achieve lasting results and strengthen your independent well-being.
