Alleviate pain and relax the body with acupuncture
-
What can acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture is most commonly used to treat musculoskeletal pain conditions such as osteoarthritis, muscle pain and tension, peripheral neuropathic pain and migraines.
-
How does acupuncture work?
An initial assessment is carried out with the client to review symptoms, lifestyle and health status. An individualised treatment plan is then drawn up, taking into account the wishes and needs of the client. During the treatment itself, you will relax on the treatment table while sterile needles are inserted into your body and left to work for 20-30 minutes. After the treatment, it is advisable to drink plenty of water. After the treatment, swimming and gym exercise should be left for the next day.
-
How many treatments are needed?
In acupuncture, results are best achieved with 3-10 sessions in series, with 30-45 minute sessions every week. If acupuncture is only used to relax muscles, the treatment time is shorter. Our specialist acupuncture physiotherapist will assess the number of treatments on an individual basis.
-
Are there any side effects of acupuncture?
Side effects are very rare. Occasionally, after treatment, the initial symptoms may temporarily feel worse than before, or you may experience more fatigue than usual. However, both situations are transient, so there is nothing to worry about.
What ailments does acupuncture help?
This is how physiotherapy progresses during your appointment
Initial mapping and discussion
The intake starts with a comprehensive initial assessment, where we go through the client’s symptoms, health history and possible functional capacity challenges. We will also discuss work, leisure and everyday stress factors to get a full picture of your situation. The aim is to understand the background to your symptoms and find the right approach to treatment for you.
Examining the symptoms
After the discussion, we will examine the symptoms in more detail using physiotherapeutic methods. For example, we assess muscle strength, mobility, body control and possible areas of pain. If necessary, we will carry out more detailed functional tests. The examination provides the basis for building an individual treatment and exercise programme.

Treatment and rehabilitation plan
Based on the tests, we will draw up a personalised treatment and rehabilitation plan for you. The plan may include therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, ergonomic guidance and concrete ways to alleviate symptoms and improve your ability to function. All interventions are based on your goals and your life situation.
Follow-up and further guidance
Physiotherapy does not end at the first visit. We will monitor your progress and adapt your treatment as necessary. You will also receive clear follow-up instructions for self-training and support for everyday activities. The aim is to achieve lasting results and strengthen your independent well-being.
